Was I incorrect?
Now...I'm far from new to this game, and I'm not one that believes everything she reads. However every now and then something happens that give me cause to ask for advice from this site.
In ascalon there was a person offering to do item duplication, which several people - myself included commented that it was not possible in GW. To which he replied that not only is it possible, but he does it all the time with great results. He pm'd me to nicely explain that many people don't realize what is possible in the game - and said you can even map travel new players all over if you know how. I'd hate to think I falsely called someone a liar.... but I've never heard of anything like this being legit. |

You used to be able to dupe and free map travel but both were fixed a while ago.
Send a ticket to support with the person's name and chat logs if you can. |

Item duplication isn't legit. In fact, a large number of people who had been involved in duping were permanently banned a while back, and ANet has made their position on the issue perfectly clear by banning these people.
This person who was offering to do item duplication for people is either a liar or a scammer, and should be reported to ANet. |

Offering to dupe items is usually a "come on" that scammers use.
Avoid or report anyone like that. |

Being able to do it and being legit are two alltogether different concepts.

First: there are currently no known methods of duping. Anyone offering to dupe for you at this time is likely looking to scam you, usually by convincing you to drop an item and then picking it up before you can (usually going far a away to make you think he can't and then using a skill to get close unexpectedly).
Second: there was a case where some people found a way to actually dupe items. The method was discovered, was fixed, and Anet more or less bombed the site from orbit to get the people lost. I believe even some of the people who reported the duping method had trouble. |

If he can duplicate items, it is against the EULA. Do as others have suggested, and send a screenshot(if you got one) and a support ticket.

Let me guess. Step one of his method is "give him all your stuff".

All of these exploit were possible at one time using bugs that have been fixed. None of them is possible now. He was just trying to capitalize on other people's prior exploits to help his scam. |
